Key inclusion & exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. patients aged four and older who were diagnosed with intermittent exotropia and needed surgical treatment;
2. the squint angle is less than 50 degree;
3. the distance and near squint angle are less than 10 degree;
4. the squint angle of vertical is less than 10 degree;
5. the same BCVA of both eyes;
6. normal eye movement.

Exclusion criteria: 1) amblyopia;
2) the squint angle of vertical is greater than or equal to 10 degree;
3) A-V squint;
4) previous ocular rectus muscles surgery;
5) other organic eye diseases.
